Tour 2020 (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) - Entry Now Closed

In 2020 Isis Cricket Club will once again go international, with 16 members taking a mini tour to Amsterdam. 23rd to 26th July 2020.  We will meet at Allan East’s or Keith Ponsford’s house and then at 07:30 make the journey into London.  We will then travel out from St Pancras International at 11:04 local time and arrive in the heart of Amsterdam in just 4 hours , arriving at 16:11 (we lose an hour in the time zone change).  In the departure lounge at St Pancras we'll find shops to buy refreshments for the journey as well as newspapers and magazines.  I am sure there may be a game of poker for those who indulge.

Once in Amsterdam, we will take a 10-minute journey (again by train) to Sloterdijk, which lies about 3 km northwest of the city centre (the city centre is therefore still in easy reach, while hotel costs are significantly cheaper).  We will stay at The Park Inn by Radisson, a 2-minute walk from Sloterdijk station.  Decorated by world-renowned designer Karim Rashid, the Park Inn by Radisson Amsterdam City West offers modern accommodation with excellent transport options nearby; there are direct connections to Schiphol Airport and Amsterdam Central Station from Sloterdijk.  Again, there are convenience stores and bars in and around Sloterdijk, although I am sure we will spend lots of our social time in the city centre.

During our stay we will play a 4-team T20 tournament on Friday at Amsterdamsche (near Amstelveen), and then a limited overs match on Saturday against  Bloemendaal Village (near Haarlem).  We will travel to both matches by train and we will use train passes for use throughout our visit.  Both matches will include refreshments, sure to be different and more lavish than we are used to at Queens.  I suspect that we will spend the late evenings in the city centre.

On Sunday we will have a leisurely day before a late afternoon departure from Amsterdam Centraal to London at 18:47, arriving at St Pancras at 22:27 local time.    Cars will be waiting to ferry us back to Oxford at the two pick-up locations.

Quite simply, its going to be great.  We have estimated the total cost of the trip to be around £375 for the international trains, 3-nights accommodation and breakfast.  You will need to bring spending money.  Payments should be made direct into the Isis Cricket Club account - Sort Code: 30-96-35, Account number: 01666758.
